  • Scope and Contents

    Collection contains records from Thomas N. Cooke that spans from the creation of his real estate firm in 1899 to 1988, with the bulk of the information dating from 1899-1950. The collection features records of early 20th century real estate transactions which include correspondence, statements, ledgers, maps and property photos. Ephemera, property listing brochures and published advertisements are also included. Noteable property owners include members of the Rockefeller family, Thorne, Washbourne, and Witherell. The bulk of property records are for the town of Greenwich, but also contain a sub-series of properties outside of Greenwich. Correspondences and maps regarding Cooke’s personal properties and investments are included, as are correspondences documenting Cooke’s professional affiliations.

    The collection is arranged in three series: Business Records, Personal Records and Professional Affiliation Records. Statements, correspondences, and property listing records maintained by the Thomas N. Cooke Real Estate firm after his death and are incorporated into this collection.

  • Biographical Sketch

    Thomas N. Cooke was the president of the Greenwich, Connecticut real estate and insurance firm bearing his name. He died in 1948 at the age of 68. He was a past president of the Association of Real Estate Boards of Connecticut, past director of the National Association, a founder and two-term president of the Greenwich Real Estate Board and a director of the Greenwich Trust Company. He was also part owner of the Pickwick Arms Hotel.
