Notes

  • Arrangement

This collection has been broadly arranged into four series. Series 1: Family Ledgers Series 2: Business and Commercial Ledgers Series 3: Greenwich Government Ledgers Series 4: Greenwich School Ledgers

  • Biographical / Historical

The Ledger Collection is an artificial collection containing family ledgers, commercial business ledgers, government ledgers, and school district specific ledgers. These ledgers have been in the Greenwich Historical Society collection for several decades and have mostly lost their original associated accession numbers, having been combined into this collection sometime in the 1980s. For any specific items still retaining their original accession number, such has been annotated into that specific item's description.

  • Scope and Contents

This collection consists of varying ledgers from around Greenwich and East Port Chester, now Byram. These ledgers are varying, from personal autograph books and home guest books, to pharmacy records, to government tax lists, and school birth records. The four broad series arrangements; family ledgers, business and commercial ledgers, greenwich government ledgers, and greenwich school ledgers; give an appropriate overview of what each contains. This collection is described entirely to an item level.
