The Bernard Yudain Collection contains both personal and professional materials spanning from 1918 all the way to 2011, with the majority of the collection being between 1943-2008. The content of the material is of sufficient breadth and interest that it is broken down below by series.
Series 1: Greenwich. This series includes ephemera and paperwork surrounding the 350th Anniversary, the remarks and programs of the Harpoon Club, two VHS tapes about Greenwich, and a series of miscellaneous Greenwich related publications. Of particular interest may be the typed remarks of Yudain prepared for the Harpoon Club roasts and the program records of those evenings.
Series 2: Reporting and Newspapers. This series focuses mostly on his work at Greenwich Time, but also includes several clippings from Roll Call, an assortment of ephemera from his time at Time, Inc., several issues of Greenwich Magazine, and the New Caanan High School newspapers from his Senior year, along with other miscellaneous clippings. Of particular interest in this series may be: An interview tape from Danbury Prison discussing Watergate, two small clippings from Yudain's time working for Stars & Stripes magazine during World War II, and a series of clippings surrounding the death of journalist Henry Taylor.
Series 3: Wythe Williams. This series is primarily comprised of Freedom of Information Act files on Wythe Williams from the FBI, with a few from the Navy, the Army, and the IRS, along with correspondence, research, and copies of his finalized articles. Of particular interest in this series may be the FOIA files, and the correspondence which features a series of letters from Donald McCormick in England who is famous for his many spy books including one on the life of Ian Fleming.
Series 4: Political Work. This series includes work from his time with Senator Lowell Weicker Jr., some written releases from the Foreign Operations Administration that we believe it is likely were written by Bernard Yuadin, along with some reporting on his appointment to the FOA and his federal job application. Of particular interest might be the 1954 federal job application and the small collection of booklets on Senator Weicker's Connecticut Senior Intern Program (created in 1972 as a way to involve senior citizens more in federal government).
Series 5: Personal Collection. This series is predominantly composed of miscellaneous correspondence and ephemera. It includes items collected during his work in Washington, D.C., brochures and information about family travel in the 1960s, materials relating to the Concorde airplane run by British Airways, a copy of Yudain's will, some paperwork and correspondence surrounding World War II, and correspondence from Clare Boothe Luce. Of particular interest here might be the Clare Boothe Luce correspondence and the paperwork surrounding his time in the Air Force during World War II.
