The majority of the correspondence between Anya Seton and her family is individually arranged in Subseries III.1 Family Correspondence, alphabetically by correspondent and chronologically therein. Researchers should note that letters from correspondents, who are no family members but were suitors or close friends, have been included in this subseries.

The bulk of Anya Seton's correspondence is arranged in subseries III.2 General Correspondence by date. Researchers should note that correspondence from family members as well as fan mail might be found in this group. Individuals often wrote Anya Seton to describe the influence of her books on their lives, or connections they had with the subjects in her novels. Others wrote to disagree with endings, her research, and the chronology or veracity of events and characters in her books. The best method to locate correspondence from fans or critics of Anya Seton's books is to read the correspondence closest to the work's date of publication.

Fan mail, along with what Anya Seton termed "interesting letters" is arranged in Subseries III.3 Fan Mail. Correspondence relating to Anya Seton's novels is located in Series V Publications, and information pertaining to royalties is foundin Series IV Financial Papers.
