Abstract

The 1743/4 date is not due to misunderstanding but due to double dating, documents signed between what we think of as January 1 and March 25 are dated with a slash due to the use of two different calendars at that point in time before a 1750 ruling that was implemented in 1752 forced England and its colonies to use the Gregorian calendar and not the Julian.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: This material is comprised of several different object types spanning over 200 years.
