Biographical / Historical
The Cos Cob Elementary School was destroyed by fire on July 30, 1990. The transfer of the school's students to the unused Parkway School, the decision to rebuild the Cos Cob School, negotiations, and the process of reconstruction are all traced through the collected notes of Christopher von Keyserling, Cos Cob Association officer. The newspaper coverage, as represented in the collection, is quite complete, as are minutes of meetings of the Cos Cob Association, the Board of Education, and the Zoning and Planning Committee. There was strong community support for the reconstruction of the school, which is well documented in the clippings, reports, and notes maintained by von Keyserling.
