Biographical Sketch
The son of Amos M. Allyn and Julia A. Gray of Ledyard, Conn (probable), Charles B. Allyn was born May 25, 1847 and died October 24, 1937. He is buried in Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic, Conn with his two wives: Stella Brown (1856-1903) and Marion Gallup Allyn Crawford (1883-1977). He was a community minded gentleman who sought ways to help his fellow men. Through his generosity the Mystic Home was formed in 1926.
From the late 1890's until about 1920, Mr. and Mrs. Allyn lived in Cod Cob area of Connecticut and Mr. Allyn owned the Mianus Motor Works. He was generous in his support of local organizations and his church. He was associated with the Stamford Children's Home and participated in organizations that beneifted the community, especially the needy.

These records were found among the papers of Mrs. Marion Gallup Allyn Crawford, Charles B. Allyn's second wife. Mrs. Crawford established a foundation in Mystic, CT to honor her husband and his generous nature. Joanna M. Case, Secretary of The Charles B. Allyn Foundation, gifted these papers to the Greenwich Historical Society.
Condition Description
Some brittle papers but most in good condition.
