Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Series II contains papers relating to Greenwich government. This series is divided into two subseries, committee papers and printed materials. Florence Finney was a member of the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) from 1941-1983. She subsequently belonged to many committees, including the Town Reorganization Committee, actovie through the 1950s and 1960s, as well as the Rules Committee, and the Education Committee. Papers from those associations are contained in Subseries II.1 and are organized chronologically by organization. Among other local issues facing a growing town, such as parking challenges and zoning laws, this subseries also contains papers relating to school modernization programs from the 1950s to the 1970s, including the building of the new Glenville School and the debate over building a second high school in Greenwich. This series also reflects Florence Finney's commitment to the Republican Party in Greenwich, as demonstrated through her membership in the Republican Town Committee, the Cos Cob Republican Club, and the Greenwich Women's Republican Club.

Subseries II.2 contains printed material relating to her involvement in Greenwich government, including newsletters, town regulation manuals, and publications from the RTM.
