New York Watercolor Club, 1900-1920

 File — Container: MS01 Box 15

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series contains materials that were created or accumulated by Elmer Livingston MacRae during his career, including correspondence and sketches relating to commissions, exhibition correspondence and catalogues, material relating to art associations of which MacRae was a member and often an officer, and materials relating to the Armory Show in 1913, which MacRae helped organize.

It should be noted that a large body of material documenting the Armory Show is not original to the collection, but was added in the 1980s. Those items are identificed with accession numbers. Original artwork in sketchbooks and on single sheets that was formerly a part of his collection has been removed and transferred to the museum collection of artworks. The researcher interested in examining the artwork of Elmer MacRae should contact the Collections Curator.
